National Masters News is sponsoring a national postal competition for various relays during the 2008 track season. The time frame for this competition is from January 1, 2008 through October 31, 2008. National Master's News will accept relay marks during this time frame for placing and ranking. Standings will be published throughout the year with the final results and standings published in the January 2009 issue.
How does this work?
Enter the National Master's News Postal relay, and compete as many times as you want, at meets throughout the year. Meets set up specifically for going after relay marks are acceptable as long as the meet complies with USATF rules for competition and timing. Hand timing is okay, but will be adjusted to compare with fully automatic timing. Indoor marks will be ranked with outdoor marks but treated separately for records (best time ever). You can e-mail results to natmanews@aol.com or mail them to:
National Master's News
P.O. Box 1117
Orangevale, CA 94562
All results must be postmarked by November 10, 2008.
How do I enter?
Each person pays a one-time entry fee of $25.00 to compete in the postal relay for the 2008 period. For example, you might run a relay team of Jane, Debbie, Sue and Mary in a 4 x 400. Each would pay $25.00. to run on as many relay teams as they want. Then in the 4 x 200 relay you replace Mary with Ann. Ann, who has not entered yet, would have to pay the $25.00 fee, but the other three would not. Also, all four runners must be entered for the postal relay prior to your first competition. You cannot enter the postal after the race has taken place.
You can enter by competing the entry form below and mailing it with a check or money order to the address above. Or you can go on-line and enter at our website at www.nationalmastersnews.com .
Are there awards?
All teams will receive a ranked in their age group, in their event. Club teams will be ranked against club teams and non-club teams will be ranked against non-club teams. Each member of the top three teams will receive certificates, suitable for framing, with their ranking, team members names, the mark, site and date of the race in which the mark was achieved.
Also, special certificates will be awarded when a team breaks the listed records for these events. An updated listing of the marks will be published in the February issue of National Master's News. Marks from national events do count and indoor marks will count for the final ranking and for indoor records.
