About National Masters News
National Masters News is the only national publication devoted exclusively to long-distance running, ultra running, track and field and racewalking for men and women over the age of 30. It is the central source of information for masters athletics throughout the U.S., and was founded in 1973.
Published monthly, National Masters News features athlete profiles, training tips, diet information, results, race and meet schedules, age-records, rankings, profiles, race reports, human interest stories, lively editorials, world news, and local information for each region. We also administer the USATF Masters All American program for both the road and track and field.
In January of 2007, NMN was purchased by long time coach and distance runner Randy Sturgeon. Sturgeon has been in publishing and public relations for 20 years, a runner for 40 years, a coach for 35 years and a long time race director. The NMN office is located in Orangevale, California.
The current staff includes circulation director Tish Ceccarelli, results editor and masters long distance runner Ramona Scholz, proofreader Becky Kraemer, webmaster and multi-eventer Jeff Brower, Ad Director and National Champion Sprinter Amanda Scotti, and photographer and senior distance runner Steve Tjonpiangi. Our special columnist, Mike Tymn, continues to inspire and inform us with his "Third Wind" column. He is the longest-running contributor to National Masters News. The new crew is bringing changes in format and look. The goal is to provide information, inspiration and affirmation to masters athletes.
